Witsand Nature Reserve – Augrabies Falls National Park – Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

7 Days / 6 Nights

Safari – Day 1

Upington – Olifantshoek – Witsand (200km).
Depart 08H30 from your hotel for the scenic road to Witsand Nature Reserve. On arrival we go for a walk to view the birdlife from a specially constructed ‘eye level’ hide. You can walk freely in this beautiful reserve, with springbok, vervet monkeys, duikers, and baboons. Afternoon game drive to visit the famous white dunes or ‘roaring sands. A small degree of fitness is required if you want to climb this 70m dunes. Incredible opportunities for photo’s await you here.

Overnight: Witsand – chalets/lodges (air-conditioned and swimming pool).
Meals: Light Lunch & Dinner.

Safari – Day 2

Today we relax around the pool, or just study the birds and springbok that come and drink at the water hole right in front of the lodge. Afternoon walk in the botanical garden, or hike between the magnificent Acacia trees.

Overnight: Witsand chalets/lodges (air-conditioned and pool).
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner.

Safari – Day 3

Witsand – Groblershoop – Augrabies (200km).
Morning walk and game drive around the reserve. Last visit of the dunes. We then depart to Augrabies. Afternoon arrival. After lunch we walk to the 6th highest Falls in the world. ‘Akoerabis’ (place of the big noise) falls 67 meters into a 17-kilometer ravine. We go on game drives to visit the impressive viewpoints like Ararat, Echo Corner and we take a walk up the Moonrock. Optional night game drive with game rangers and/or Orange River Rafting.

Overnight: Augrabies – chalets/lodges (air-conditioned and pool).
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner.

Day 4

Augrabies – Twee Rivieren (390km).
You have the option of doing the 5km “Dassie Nature Trail” – or visiting the Falls. Then we depart for Kgalagadi, visiting the Bushmen on our way. At Twee Rivieren we move into our lodges, then go for a game drive, or an optional night-drive with rangers.

Overnight: Twee Rivieren chalets/lodges.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

Day 5

Twee Rivieren – Mata Mata (130km).
Departure to Mata Mata in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Lunch at an unfenced picnic spot. A museum that shows us how the pioneers of the old days lived is well worth a visit. Game drive to view the bird species (264) in this 38000 km Park. Predator numbers: Lions – 450, Leopards – 200, Cheetah – 200 and Spotted Hyena – 370.

Overnight: Mata Mata chalets/lodges (ceiling fan and swimming pool).
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

Day 6

Mata Mata – Nossob (150km).
Wake up one hour before gates open. Game drive South, then we take the Kamaque dune road to reach Nossob, late afternoon arrival.

Overnight: Nossob chalets/lodges.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

Day 7

Nossob – Twee Rivieren – Upington (405km).
Wake up one hour before gates open, pack up and depart direction South. Today we search for Meerkats, Giraffe and we might meet the Cats. After 4-5 hours of stalk driving, we reach Twee Rivieren (12H00) Depart for Upington. Late afternoon arrival at your guesthouse. Tour ends.

Meals as per itinerary:

  • B = Breakfast – cereals, coffee and tea, fruit juice, eggs, rusks, and fruit (apples, oranges, bananas, and pears).
  • L = Light Lunch.
  • D = Dinner – Braai broodjies (sandwich on fire with cheese, tomato, and onions) salad, corn, rice, potatoes, vegetables, chicken, sausage, and other meats are available.

EXCLUDED:

  • Conservation fee of R252 per person per day payable Augrabies cash or credit card.
  • Bottled water / soft – and alcoholic drinks / snacks in between meals (shops available at every camp).
  • Morning and Night drives with park rangers in an open truck R374 per person.

GUESTS NEED:

  • Binoculars, sun block, hat, closed shoes for the evenings, insect repellent, torch, and toiletries.
  • IMPORTANT: Animals are active early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are lower.
  • Please keep luggage to a minimum (towels, linen and cutlery are supplied).
