Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – Nossob 4×4 Eco Trail

6 Days 5 Nights

We drive 5 hours per day and in total 1100km. Please keep luggage to a minimum – no trailers allowed. We are escorted by a SANPARKS game ranger in own 4×4.

SAFARI DAY 1

Upington – Kgalagadi -Twee Rivieren (260 km).
We leave Upington at 8H30 from your guesthouse to drive to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Stop en route at the Norokei Salt Pans (natural salt mine) and the Khomani San Bushmen to view their art. Arrival at Twee Rivieren 13h00. We depart on a game drive (speed limit 50km/h) in these 38 000 square km parks until the gates close.
Approximate predator numbers: Lions – 450, Leopards – 150, Cheetah – 200, Spotted hyenas – 370. Bird species are 264, of which 20 raptor species are present. Antelope such as Gemsbok, Hartebeest, Springbok and Wildebeest are well represented. Optional 3-hour sunset- or Night game drive with rangers in an open truck.

Overnight: Twee Rivieren.
Meals: Light Lunch & Dinner.

SAFARI DAY 2

Twee Rivieren – Witgat Camp (95km).
Wake up one hour before gates open. Breakfast, then pack for Game drive in the dry riverbed until Kij Kij where 4×4 trail start. Witgat is close to a waterhole situated in the red dunes.

Overnight: Witgat camping.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

SAFARI DAY 3

Witgat Camp – Rosyntjiebos camp (60km).
Drive through sand dunes, with various viewpoints, Aardwolf den and sociable weaver nests.

Overnight: Rosyntjiebos camping.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

SAFARI DAY 4

Rosyntjiebos Camp – Swartbas Camp (50 km).
Early morning departure on the trail, we stop at a Suricate den and investigate Bushmen Historic site.

Overnight: Swartbas camping.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

SAFARI DAY 5

Game drive Nossob camp Botswana side (100km).
Drive through sand dunes, with various viewpoints, Aardwolf den and sociable weaver nests.

Overnight: Nossob Camping.
Meals: Breakfast & Light Lunch & Dinner.

SAFARI DAY 6

Nossob – Upington (400 km).
Wake up one hour before gates open, pack up and depart direction South. Today we learn more of the Kalahari and her secrets. After 4 – 5 hours of game driving we reach Twee Rivieren (12h00) Depart for Upington. Late afternoon arrival at your guesthouse. Tour ends.

Meals as per itinerary:

  • B = Breakfast – cereals, coffee and tea, fruit juice, eggs, rusks, and fruit (apples, oranges, bananas, and pears).
  • L = Light Lunch.
  • D = Dinner – Braai broodjies (sandwich on fire with cheese, tomato, and onions) salad, corn, rice, potatoes, vegetables, chicken, sausage, and other meats are available.

EXCLUDED:

  • All entrance – and conservation fees.
  • Client’s 4×4 and fuel.
  • Bottled water.
  • Sleeping bags, pillows.
  • Conservation fee of R440 per person per day payable Kgalagadi cash or credit card.
  • Bottled water / soft – and alcoholic drinks / snacks in between meals (shops available at every camp).

GUESTS NEED:

  • Sleeping bag, sun block, hat, closed shoes, torch, insect repellent and personal toiletries.

    Please keep luggage to a minimum.

BOOKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS: 
35% deposit needed for tour confirmation, and balance payable 1 month before departure.
